Challenges in adopting interpretative tradition in social sciences

Resumo: This theoretical essay contributes to the discussion about the adoption of the interpretative tradition in social sciences. In order to do so, it focuses on the paths that sciences have gone through to understand intersubjective knowledge and its implications in social sciences. In addition, it is possible to observe the growing number of researchers adopting methods and strategies originated from the interpretative tradition in the field of organizational studies in administration, which are opposite to the mainstream perspective - functionalist tradition. Finally, it is emphasized that this mainstream is influenced by academic productivism.

Ademais, observa-se o número crescente de pesquisadores que adotam métodos e estratégias originários da tradição interpretativista no campo dos estudos organizacionais em administração, que se contrapõem à perspectiva mainstream – tradição funcionalista.
