Resumo: Introduction: The shoulder is considered a site frequently affected by sports injuries, especially in the modalities involving batting and throwing due to the great biomechanical demand. Rotator cuff lesions, such as tendinosis, can be complicated to treat in sports persons, because often the painful picture does not correspond to the imaging diagnoses and because individuals with this type of lesion often can practice the modality without pain. Objective: The aim of this study was to present evidence based on the scientific literature on the possible effects of resistance exercise as a form of conservative treatment of tendinosis in the rotator cuff.Method: papers were selected and analyzed from refereed journals on specific academic databases, EBSCO and Pubmed, between 2007 and 2017.Results and conclusions: All the results showed positive effects of resistance training on the variables pain, the range of motion and muscle function, including those who performed follow-up, verifying that, even after some time without training, the beneficial effects remained. Thus, resistance training seems to be an alternative of conservative treatment for pain relief, increased range of motion and improved rotator cuff function in individuals with rotator cuff tendonitis.

Universidade LaSalle - Unilasalle CanoasToigo, Adriana Marques2018-12-17info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistas.unilasalle.edu.br/index.php/saude_desenvolvimento/article/view/393010.18316/sdh.v6i3.3930Saúde e Desenvolvimento Humano; v. 6, n. 3 (2018); p. 87-97Saúde e Desenvolvimento Humano; v. 6, n. 3 (2018); p. 87-972317-8582reponame:Saúde e Desenvolvimento Humanoinstname:Universidade La Salle (UNILASALLE)instacron:UNILASALLEporhttps://revistas.unilasalle.edu.br/index.php/saude_desenvolvimento/article/view/3930/pdfhttps://revistas.unilasalle.edu.br/index.php/saude_desenvolvimento/article/downloadSuppFile/3930/740Direitos autorais 2018 Saúde e Desenvolvimento Humanoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2022-04-06T12:03:07Zoai:ojs.revistas.unilasalle.edu.br:article/3930Revistahttp://www.revistas.unilasalle.edu.br/index.php/saude_desenvolvimentohttps://revistas.unilasalle.edu.br/index.php/saude_desenvolvimento/oaisdh@unilasalle.edu.br2317-85822317-8582opendoar:2022-04-06T12:03:07Saúde e Desenvolvimento Humano - Universidade La Salle (UNILASALLE)false
