Resumo: Objective: to evaluate the perception of people with disabilities regarding the Benefit of Continued Provision (BPC), and aspects associated with weaknesses and difficulties in the face of disability.Material and methods: exploratory study, qualitative approach, conducted through semistructures interviews with questions related to their knowledge about BPC, sush as weakness and difficulties due to disability. Participantes were selected from among the applicants for the BPC, people with disabilities aged 16 or over.Results: the interviews speeches show difficulties in understanding the BPC application process, processing and rejection. For those who compensate for the benefit, the perception is that the benefit contibutes to reducing dependence on third parties. In their understanding, disability affected social life, access to the labor Market, with the presence of a feelinf of worthlessness due to the limitations imposed, with social support being na importante source of support.Conclusion: the precarious living conditions for most of this population, social exclusion, expecially frm the labor Market and suffering caused by prejudices, puts them in a situation of social vulnerability

Os participantes foram selecionados entre os requerentes do Benefício de Prestação Continuada (BPC), pessoas com deficiência 16 anos ou mais.Resultados: observam-se nos discursos dos entrevistados, dificuldades de compreensão do processo de solicitação, tramitação e de indeferimento do BPC.
