Educational actions in the Family Health Strategy: weaving the experience with an elderly group

Resumo: Objective: Report on health education activities carried out with a group of elderly people within the scope of the Family Health Strategy.Material and Methods: Experience report related to extension actions developed by nursing students at the State University Vale do Acaraú, in a Basic Health Unit, located in Sobral, Ceará, from October to November 2019. For the collection of information, the methods: participant observation and records of educational actions in a logbook. Subsequently, the analysis of the information was carried out through the systematization and grouping of ideas in a critical-reflexive way with the literature.Results: In all, eight meetings were held with the elderly, in which educational interventions were developed, through workshops, involving the following themes: cognitive assessment, relaxation, music therapy, physical activity, healthy eating, systemic arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, rational use of medicines and rights of the elderly.Conclusion: It was evidenced that the participants felt more confident for self-care and recognized the importance of healthy attitudes for the maintenance of quality of life. The experience provided students with an approximation of reality in the perspective of approaching and leading a group of elderly people, as well as corroborating the production of knowledge beyond the classroom environment.

Relato de experiência referente às ações extensionistas desenvolvidas por discentes de Enfermagem da Universidade Estadual Vale do Acaraú, em uma Unidade Básica de Saúde, localizada em Sobral, Ceará, no período de outubro a novembro de 2019. Para coleta das informações utilizou-se como métodos: a observação participante e os registros das ações educativas em um diário de bordo. Posteriormente, realizou-se a análise das informações através da sistematização e agrupamento das ideias de maneira crítico-reflexiva junto à literatura. Ao todo, realizaram-se oito encontros com os idosos, nos quais desenvolveu-se intervenções educativas, por meio de oficinas, envolvendo os temas seguintes: avaliação cognitiva, relaxamento, musicoterapia, atividade física, alimentação saudável, hipertensão arterial sistêmica, diabetes mellitus, uso racional de medicamentos e direitos do idoso. Evidenciou-se que os participantes se sentiram mais confiantes para o autocuidado e reconheceram a importância de atitudes saudáveis para manutenção da qualidade de vida.
