Resumo: Objective: To analyze the perception of health workers in primary care teams about the health promotion policy aimed at the elderly in a city in southern Brazil.Material and Methods: Qualitative case study in which four health professionals participated in the development of health promotion policies for the elderly, the sample being intentional, for convenience and saturation. Data were collected through a focus group and analyzed through thematic analysis.Results: The categories showed that the perception of health workers about the health promotion policy for the elderly comprised both the guarantee of access to actions and the attention to health determinants.Conclusions: The results found showed that the health promotion policy for the elderly population involves complex and multifactorial issues, with the need for a broader view.
