Scarlet Karina Montilla BarriosIn Chile, we constantly fight against seismic movements, which cause great damage to structures. Over time, the norms in Chile have been improving, producing a country more resistant to these natural disasters. This text reviews the most important points indicated by the norms in relation to housing. The biggest problem that Chile has today is the debt of a decent house, rules are established for the structures that are of vital importance, but the social issue is left aside, which directly affects low-income families . The State is the one that finances most of the popular housing, in which, the participation of the family with its future house has been disregarded in a 100%, taking as main importance, the structure (anti-earthquake), the efficiency and the reduction of costs, leading to the standardization of these houses, producing a negative effect on the architectural traditions of the country, then, the low cost of the buildings does not allow to have autochthonous characteristics. As a final item, a type of modular architecture is proposed, which allows the future owner of the house to plan the spaces through the organization of the modules, which complies with the maximum of m2 allowed by the subsidiesEn chile se lucha constantemente contra los movimientos sísmicos, los cuales producen grandes daños a las estructuras. A lo largo del tiempo, las normas en Chile se han ido mejorando, produciendo un País más resistente ante estos desastres naturales, En este texto se repasan los puntos más importantes indicado por las normas en relación a las viviendas. El mayor problema que tiene Chile hoy en día, es la deuda de una casa digna, se establecen reglas para las estructuras que son de vital importancia, pero, se deja a un lado el tema social, que afecta directamente a las familias de bajos recursos. El Estado es quien financia la mayoría de las viviendas populares, en el cual, se ha desconsiderado en un 100% la participación de la familia con su futura casa, tomando como principal importancia, la estructura (antisismica), la eficiencia y la reducción de costos, llevando a la padronización de estas viviendas, produciendo un efecto negativo en las tradiciones arquitectónicas del país, pues, el bajo costo de las construcciones no permite tener características autóctonas.
