The aim of the police training policy is to provide officers with the skills and qualifications they need to respond to the new societal challenges. As distance learning can in fact be considered as one of the solutions to minimise the current constraints in the police training system, the purpose of our work is to learn about the distance training in place for the PSP (the Portuguese police force). In terms of methodology, this is a qualitative study that focuses on how the police force trainees profile their course of education using this form of instruction. Our research was extended to include all the PSP members who attended and passed at least one training activity between 2007 and 2013. The main results of the study show that the degree of agreement and opinion are most conducive to the implementation of distance learning, regarding it as a very suitable option given the specificities of the institution.
