CONCEPTS OF DISTANCE LEARNING AND ITS IMPLICATIONS AT UNIVASF

Resumo: | Abstract: With the growing development in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT), we see the possibility of changes in educational processes, in which the democratization of access to knowledge has become the central issue, especially when it is related to distance learning. This study aimed to reflect on the conceptions of teachers about Distance Learning considering its implications in this type of education, so that they can contribute to the educational policies on it. This research took place in the period 2010-2011, at Federal University of São Francisco Valley, on the campus of Petrolina-Pernambuco and in Juazeiro-Bahia. To this end, two samples were selected randomly, with 10 teachers each, one with teachers who participated in some training in Distance Learning and others who did not take part in it, performing interviews and subsequently an analysis of discourses. The data found showed that participants in some of the courses offered by SEAD / UNIVASF significantly changed their outlook on Distance Learning, being favorable to the use of technological resources in teaching, as well as the distance leaning. Besides that they presented critical and important considerations that can be properly considered in future studies. Thus it is necessary to broaden the debate and articulate classroom teaching and learning distance in order to demystify certain resistances regarding this kind of teaching and create favorable conditions for a more collective construction, involving more actors in the process and creating a more reflective culture about practices in Distance Learning. Keywords: Information and Communication Technologies; educational process; teacher’s conception; learning distance.Resumo: Com a crescente evolução no ramo das tecnologias de informação e comunicação (TIC), percebe-se a possibilidade da mudança nos processos educativos, onde a questão da democratização do acesso ao conhecimento tornou-se questão central, especialmente quando se fala na modalidade de ensino a distância. Este estudo objetivou refletir sobre as concepções dos docentes a respeito de Educação a Distância, considerando suas implicações nessa modalidade de ensino, para que possam contribuir com as políticas de ensino em EaD. Esta pesquisa aconteceu no período 2010-2011, na Universidade Federal do Vale do São Francisco, no campus de Petrolina-PE e de Juazeiro-BA. Para tanto, foram selecionadas aleatoriamente duas amostras, com 10 docentes cada, uma com professores que participaram de alguma capacitação em Educação a Distância e outra dos que não participaram, realizando-se entrevistas e, posteriormente, uma análise dos discursos. Percebeu-se, nos dados encontrados, que os participantes de alguma das capacitações oferecidas pela SEAD/UNIVASF modificaram sensivelmente sua visão sobre a EaD, mostrando-se favoráveis à utilização de recursos tecnológicos nos processos de ensino, assim como da modalidade a distância, além de terem uma visão crítica e realizarem importantes ressalvas que podem ser devidamente apreciadas em estudos futuros. Assim, necessita-se ampliar o debate e articular ensino presencial – a distância, a fim de desmitificar certas resistências a respeito da EaD e criar condições favoráveis para uma construção mais coletiva, envolvendo mais atores no processo e criando-se uma cultura mais reflexiva sobre as práticas a distância.
