Pataxó sacred places: between spiritual beings, nature and cultural identity

Resumo: The objectives of this article are to provide a list of the sacred places for the Pataxó and where their spiritual beings live. To establish a link between nature and spirituality, and how the perpetuation of the Pataxó spirituality is deeply related to the preservation of the forest. Together, the spiritual beings and the forest take care of the Pataxó, constituting their spirituality and, in return, the Pataxó take care of the forest, which is the home of these beings. This symbiose between nature and culture reveals how the Pataxó culture is linked to the forest and makes the conservation of the environment in the region crucial for their community. The article also proposes to explain how the Pataxó identity is linked to their spiritual beings and what is the role of Pataxó spirituality as a maintainer of the preservation of the forest.

El objetivo es establecer un vínculo entre la naturaleza y su espiritualidad y, en cuanto para la perpetuación de la espiritualidad Pataxó, es importante la preservación de sus tierras. De esta manera, los seres espirituales junto con la naturaleza cuidan a los Pataxó, constituyendo su espiritualidad y, a cambio, los Pataxó cuidan de ella, que es el hogar de estos seres. Revelando entonces, una relación entre su territorio y cultura, en la que la cultura Pataxó se vincula con sus lugares, lo que hace fundamental la conservación ambiental en la región. Por lo tanto, propongo explicar cómo la producción de la identidad Pataxó tiene un vínculo con sus seres espirituales y cuál es el papel de la espiritualidad Pataxó como mantenedora de la preservación de sus tierrasEste artigo tem como objetivo relacionar os locais sagrados para os Pataxó, onde habitam os assim chamados seres espirituais. Busca-se estabelecer uma ligação entre natureza e espiritualidade, e como, para a perpetuação da espiritualidade Pataxó, é importante a preservação das matas. Desta forma, os seres espirituais, junto com a mata, cuidam dos Pataxó, constituindo sua espiritualidade; em contrapartida, os Pataxó cuidam da mata que é a morada desses seres. Revela-se, então, uma relação entre a natureza e a cultura, pois a cultura Pataxó está fortemente ligada aos seus lugares, o que torna a conservação ambiental da região uma tarefa fundamental.
