Internet access in the microregion of Montes Claros: connectivity and social extracts

Resumo: | In 2013, half of the population with 10 years old and older accessed the internet inBrazil, which accounted for 86.7 million people. In the same vein, 49.5% of Brazilianhouseholds had computers at home, and reached 43.1% the share of Brazilian homeswhere computers had internet connection. Indicators of Brazilian connectivity point toan optimistic growth in the use and ownership of information and communicationtechnologies (ICTs), revealing a popularization and dissemination scenario of their usein national daily. The objective of this study was to analyze the spatial distribution of internet access in the microregion of Montes Claros, associating indicators of income,education and social vulnerability. The study reveals that the head city of themicroregion centralizes its flows and social indicators such education, income andsocial vulnerability. The maping of studied indicators applies to the one about internetaccess reflecting the necessity of overcome historical social and economic inequalitieswith help from public policies to meke accessible and less excludent all scenariospromoted throught ICTs revolution in the urban space and for the contemporary society. |

Nessa direção, observa-se que 49,5% dos domicílios brasileiros possuíamcomputadores em casa, e, ainda, 43,1% é a parcela das residências brasileiras em que oscomputadores possuíam conexão a internet. Os indicadores da conectividade brasileiraapontam um crescimento otimista do uso e da posse das tecnologias da informação ecomunicação (TICs), revelando um cenário de popularização e difusão de seu uso noscotidiano nacional. O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar a distribuição espacial do acessoà internet na microrregião de Montes Claros, associando as implicações desse acessocom indicadores de renda, instrução e vulnerabilidade social. O estudo revela MontesClaros, cidade que encabeça amicrorregião, como centralizadora de fluxos e indicadoressociais de escolaridade, renda e vulnerabilidade social.
