Resumo: | The second decade of the 21st century was marked by the expansion of technical education integrated to high school through the internalization of the Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology (IF's) in all regions of the country. Considering that these institutions meet the local productive arrangement for the definition of course offerings, and that they are connected to the demand of a set of cities, we sought to identify their area of influence and measure the commuting of students of technical courses integrated to the high school of the Federal Institute of Maranhão (IFMA), São João dos Patos Campus. Methodologically, it was supported by a theoretical foundation from the literature review, the survey of primary data with the Department of Academic Records and Control (DRCA) of the campus and the spatialization of data in a Geographic Information System. The results suggest that the spatial delimitation from the Immediate Geographic Region is the most coherent to represent the origin and commuting undertaken by students. Finally, we highlight the need for maintenance and expansion of affirmative action by educational institutions to mitigate the financial impact during the study period as being of fundamental importance for the permanence and success of migrant students. |
