Resumo: The purpose of this article was to present the importance of solid waste recycling carried out by the Montes Claros Association of Recyclable Waste Pickers - MONTESUL in the city of Montes Claros - MG and to identify the water, electricity and gas savings data greenhouse gases (GHGs), obtained through the application of the environmental calculator. To achieve the proposed objectives it was used in its methodology, initially a literature review to give scientific basis to the work, then the calculation Recovery and Recycling of Solid Waste Materials (AMS-III.AJ) was applied to the materials collected by the association to identify water, electricity and greenhouse gas (GHG) savings data. The water and electricity savings provided by MONTESUL through recycling in the period from February to July 2020, would be enough to supply the population of the Morada do Parque micro region, which covers four neighborhoods with a population of 4,434 inhabitants for a period of 20 days.

Para atingir os objetivos propostos foi utilizado em sua metodologia, inicialmente uma revisão de literatura para dar embasamento científico ao trabalho em seguida foram aplicados o cálculo Recuperação e Reciclagem de Materiais de Resíduos Sólidos (AMS-III.AJ) nos materiais coletados pela associação para identificar os dados de economia de água, energia elétrica e gases do efeito estufa (GEEs).
