The territory has been a tool in the hands of the State, for, so ideal, to favor the redistribution as a factor guiding public policy. In general, the public power has been limited to areas defined as being homogeneous, not taking into account the peculiarities existing in these localities. Thus, the government’s actions aimed at mitigating the differences tend to end with the inefficiency of such actions. Thus, it is necessary to study the differences that would classify certain areas as a focus of action specifically designed and targeted, “custom”, so to speak. One can therefore expect increased effectiveness of state action. It is with this article, open a discussion about the criteria of health territoriality in the district Morrinhos in Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, to make a description of the area in question and a brief analysis of the territoriality of the area. The work unfolds in four parts: the first, “Definitions”; the second, “The region and health”; and the third, “The health territoriality of the district Morrinhos”; the analysis of the consistency of territoriality with the regional reality is executed in the last section, “Considerations”.
