Resumo: The article addresses the territorialities between non-hegemonic social groups and the traditional forms of political-state organization in the municipality of Mirabela – MG. Theoretical analysis is guided by spatialities, with emphasis on the territory category, the result of the "intertwining" of historical processes, the material and social basis of local and regional human dynamics. The methodological path used consisted of bibliographical research, field work with the support of participant research as a data collection instrument, the semi-structured interview. The investigation is presented from the context of the entry of eucalyptus monoculture companies in the North of Minas Gerais in the 1960s in the processes of forming territories to the premises of these business corporations, with the help of the state machine and its subsidies. The territory as a category, in its multidimensionalities, subject-relation-space, delimited in the field of conflict and dispute for “power”, both material and immaterial. Conceptions, political-legal, economic and cultural, and territorialities are present daily in the municipality of Mirabela. From this geographical perspective, the territory presents different nuances, that is, due to the geographical processes of Territorialization, Desterritorialization and Reterritorialization that are built and reconstructed according to the relationship of groups with their respective territories. The power relations between the rootmens and the eucalyptus monoculture companies combine certain meanings with space and territory, consolidate meanings, notions that legitimize social and political actions.

Editora Unimontes2023-09-01info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionArtigoapplication/pdfhttps://www.periodicos.unimontes.br/index.php/cerrados/article/view/685910.46551/rc24482692202320Revista Cerrados; v. 21 n. 02 (2023): Revista Cerrados; 85-1112448-26921678-8346reponame:Revista Cerrados (Montes Claros.
