The scientific, didactic and tourist potential of the Botumirim State Park, Minas Gerais

Resumo: Protected areas are tourist and educational destinations for visitors from different parts of the country and the world, who find nature their main motivation. The general objective of this research is to analyze the scientific, didactic and tourist potential of the Botumirim State Park conservation unit. To this end, bibliographical research was used, maps were created using the ArcGis 10.3 software and the geodiversity of the park was evaluated in a qualitative and quantitative way, based on scientific, didactic and tourist values, in addition to its risk of degradation. Despite the difference in scores, the evaluation proved the didactic and tourist relevance of geosites and geodiversity sites. The attractions evaluated were classified as having local, national and international relevance according to the established criteria, with values between 280 and 380 points in didactic potential and between 175 and 325 in tourist potential. In terms of scientific value, good results were also found, with a variation between 170 and 355 points. The attractions of geological/ geomorphological interest researched can be worked on in Basic Education in an integrated way, adopting a holistic view of nature.

El objetivo general de esta investigación es analizar el potencial científico, didáctico y turístico de la unidad de conservación del Parque Estatal Botumirim. Para ello se utilizó investigación bibliográfica, se crearon mapas utilizando el software ArcGis 10.3 y se evaluó de manera cualitativa y cuantitativa la geodiversidad del parque, con base en valores científicos, didácticos y turísticos, además de su riesgo de degradación. A pesar de la diferencia de puntuaciones, la evaluación demostró la relevancia didáctica y turística de los geositios y los sitios de geodiversidad. Los atractivos evaluados fueron clasificados como de relevancia local, nacional e internacional según los criterios establecidos, con valores entre 280 y 380 puntos en potencial didáctico y entre 175 y 325 en potencial turístico. En cuanto al valor científico también se encontraron buenos resultados, con una variación entre 170 y 355 puntos. Los atractivos de interés geológico/geomorfológico investigados pueden ser trabajados en la Educación Básica de forma integrada, adoptando una visión holística de la naturaleza.As áreas protegidas são destinos turísticos e didáticos para os visitantes de diversas partes do país e do mundo, que encontram na natureza sua principal motivação. O objetivo geral desta pesquisa é, pois, analisar os potenciais científico, didático e turístico da unidade de conservação Parque Estadual de Botumirim. Para tanto, utilizou-se a pesquisa bibliográfica, elaboraram-se mapas por meio do software ArcGis 10.3 e se avaliou de modo qualitativo e quantitativo a geodiversidade do Parque, a partir dos valores científico, didático, turístico, além do seu risco de degradação. Apesar das diferenças na pontuação, a avaliação comprovou a relevância didática e turística dos geossítios e sítios de geodiversidade. Os atrativos avaliados foram classificados como de relevância local, nacional e internacional nos critérios estabelecidos, com valores entre 280 e 380 pontos no potencial didático e entre 175 e 325 no potencial turístico. No valor científico, também foram encontrados bons resultados, com variação entre 170 e 355 pontos.
