Resumo: Forest fires have caused impacts in several regions of the world, occurring more significantly in the period corresponding to the dry season. Besides the seasonality of the climate, the anthropic action is almost always related to the occurrence of fires in pasture areas or by the opening of areas for crops. To subsidize the prevention and the combat of fires, remote sensing techniques are positioned as a valuable tool in the spatial and temporal monitoring of the behavior of the phenomenon. In this study, we used the Google Earth Engine platform and products from the MODIS Burned Area Monthly Global collection to analyze the spatial-temporal dynamics of forest fires in the state of Minas Gerais that occurred between 2001 and 2020. Results indicate that about 12,683,036ha were consumed by fire in the state, which corresponds to 21.6% of the total area. The Northwestern region of Minas Gerais had 43.3% of its territory affected at least once by fire, while in the analysis by biomes, the Savannah biome stands out, with 31.2% impacted. Among the conservation units, Serra da Canastra National Park stands out as one of the areas with the highest recurrence. From the results obtained, it is hoped to subsidize effective actions to combat and prevent fires in the state of Minas Gerais.

Editora Unimontes2022-02-01info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionArtigoapplication/pdfhttps://www.periodicos.unimontes.br/index.php/cerrados/article/view/464910.46551/rc24482692202206Revista Cerrados; v. 20 n. 01 (2022): Revista Cerrados ; 120-1482448-26921678-834610.46551/rc244826922022v20n1reponame:Revista Cerrados (Montes Claros.
