Resumo: Montes Claros, an average city with a population of more than 400 thousand inhabitants, is the main focus of concentration of the virus by COVID-19 in the North of the State of Minas Gerais, the result of its political, economic and structural centrality, in addition to its demographic size. As of April 16, 2020, there were 30,573 cases and 721 deaths. From this, this article analyzes the evolution and spatial dynamics of Covid-19 in Montes Claros in two moments: 11/03/2020 and 19/04/2021. It will focus on the expansion of Covid-19 on the city scale, evidently without disregarding its nuances and articulation with other geographic scales. The methodology was based on a qualitative approach with survey and organization of secondary data from Covid-19 in Montes Claros, from the Municipal Health Department, made available through Newsletters published daily. The results were systematized in analytical cartographic products such as maps and graphs showing the temporal evolution of the pandemic. Regarding the analysis of the geographical behavior of the virus, it was found to be highly enlarged to all neighborhoods, revealing a highly heterogeneous spatial pattern, which associates and implies the advancement of the process of social inequality in this middle city.
