Resumo: | We understand that an environmental education tool for changing attitudes and training of critical citizens. The Draft Environmental Educators in the Hinterland of General aims to train teachers in municipal schools environmental multipliers of the microregion of Montes Claros, specifically in schools Varzelândia, Patiala, Oath and Mirabela / MG. The first municipality served by the project is Varzelândia, where a diagnosis was made on the municipalityin order to analyze the environmental impacts that plague the local community. In this sense, the objective of this study is to report the results of socio-environmental diagnosis during the second half of 2010. We use a methodology based on literature review, interviews with directors, supervisorsand teachers of the schools involved, and field work. We could notice that Varzelândia shows positive indicators such as the development of trade andagriculture, population growth, the relative autonomy of the health sector and education. However, it has an economy dependent on the state (Municipalities Participation Fund) and has one of the worst indicators with regard to sanitation. The environmental education are characterized by promoting improved living conditions with simple actions that will not solve all mishaps diagnosed, but will impact positively on the local community. |

O Projeto Educadores Ambientais no Sertão das Gerais tem como finalidade formar educadores ambientais multiplicadores em escolas municipais da microrregião de Montes Claros, mais especificamente nas escolas de Varzelândia, Patis, Juramento e Mirabela/MG. O primeiro município atendido pelo projeto é Varzelândia, onde foi realizado um diagnóstico sobre o município com o intuito de analisar os impactos ambientais que assolam a comunidade local. Nesse sentido, o objetivo desse trabalho é relatar os resultados do diagnóstico socioambiental realizado durante o segundo semestre do ano de 2010. Utilizamos uma metodologia baseada em pesquisa bibliográfica, entrevistas com diretores, supervisores e professores das escolas envolvidas, além de trabalhos de campo. Pudemos perceber que Varzelândia apresenta indicadores positivos como o desenvolvimento do comércio e do setor agrícola, crescimento demográfico, relativa autonomia do setor de saúde e educação. Entretanto, tem uma economia relativamente dependente do Estado (Fundo de Participação dos Municípios) e conta com um dos piores indicadores no tocante ao esgotamento sanitário.
