Resumo: The objective of this study was to investigate the spatial distribution of human and canine visceral leishmaniasis cases in the period from 2016 to 2018 in the urban area of Virgem da Lapa, Minas Gerais. We adopted the quantitative, cross-sectional and descriptive study carried out through data obtained by the Information System of Notifiable Diseases and the Zoonosis Control Center. The mapping of the disease was performed with the use of geoprocessing techniques through the ArcGis 10.8 software. For statistical analysis we used the incidence of human cases, percentage of canine positivity and Spearman's correlation coefficient. Twelve human cases were reported, with a total incidence in the period of 17.6 cases/10,000 inhabitants. As for canine cases, 141 positive dogs were reported, with a canine positivity rate of 18.4%. The spatial distribution of the disease indicated areas of transmission of human and canine cases in places close to recently occupied neighborhoods, subdivision areas and with rural aspects. A strong positive and statistically significant correlation was detected between human incidence and canine positivity. The study contributes to the understanding of the spatial dynamics, helping and offering subsidies for planning in health actions and disease control.

Editora Unimontes2022-06-15info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionArtigoapplication/pdfhttps://www.periodicos.unimontes.br/index.php/cerrados/article/view/495110.46551/rc24482692202214Revista Cerrados; v. 20 n. 01 (2022): Revista Cerrados ; 347-3672448-26921678-834610.46551/rc244826922022v20n1reponame:Revista Cerrados (Montes Claros.
