Resumo: The purpose of this work is to evidence the importance of the veredas for the balance of the savannah bioma and its collections of water. It becomes necessary because of the situation of extreme degradation of the physical and social environment that is happening in the great majority of the veredas of the Brazilian savannah. It still portrays the need of an environmental education seeking the preservation of the veredas.
