Resumo: As dificuldades que os pais encontram em educar seus filhosna atualidade tem sido um assunto muito discutido emnossa sociedade. Este artigo contribui para a visão dosprincipais fatores relacionados à falência da autoridadeparental. Trata-se de uma pesquisa bibliográfica que seapoia em referências que contemplam o tema proposto,com base em livros, teses, dissertações, revistas e artigoscientíficos. O artigo aborda o contexto histórico da famíliados primórdios até o presente momento, passando à importânciado vínculo familiar no desenvolvimento e educaçãoda criança e à identificação de fundamentos da perdado vínculo familiar na contemporaneidade.
