Cockroaches are insects of the Order Blattaria, Burmeister, 1829 or Blattodea, Brunner, 1882 (synonym) and have a wide geographical distribution. It corresponds to an ancient group of insects, known since the Lower Carboniferous. After incomplete metamorphosis they reach maturity, presenting high reproductive capacity and adapting to different environments. The research was carried out in peer-reviewed journals, in the PubMed and Capes databases, for the last 60 months with the keyword Blattaria "and" Blaberidae, when the text was complete and available. The books used were those available in the collection of the Federal University of the Triângulo Mineiro. The theoretical framework deals with biology, sexual behavior and biodiversity. There is extensive knowledge about the physiology, taxonomy and ethology of this order because they are vectors of diseases and have a significant impact in the public health area. However, there is still a lot of research to be done, since various aspects of biology and life history are still unknown.
