Resumo: O presente trabalho discute saneamento básico, ressaltandosua relação com o meio ambiente e a saúde dapopulação. A prática de fazer instalações de coleta e tratamentodos efluentes líquidos cada vez mais se alastrapara mais cidades ocasionando impacto na estrutura dascidades, grande investimento e trabalho de pessoas.Tendo em vista essas condições, este trabalho objetivainvestigar o impacto que a falta de saneamento básicocausa ao meio ambiente e a qualidade de vida da população.Buscou-se através de material bibliográfico digitale impresso o tema para subsidiar e fundamentar estereferencial. Conclui-se que a falta de saneamento básicoacarreta sérios riscos a saúde, muitos gastos, mortes, oque a torna um problema de saúde pública. Sugere-seque políticas efetivas de saneamento básico sejam implementadase monitoradas como forma de promoção àsaúde ambiental e humana.
