Resumo: | The need to use in a appropriate and sustainable manner the natural resources of the environment must be increasingly present in the everyday life of the people, the government and businesses.Thus, this study aims to analyze the environmental initiatives and practices adopted by a group of companies from the Caí Valley, in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. To achieve the objective, a survey was conducted with a questionnaire based on the report “Ethos Indicators for Sustainable and Responsible Business” (Ethos, 2013). The results indicate that the majority of companies surveyed is concerned with issues related to the environment, such as the generation and disposal of waste pollutants, and reduction in power consumption. Furthermore, we highlight the fact that only a small portion of the companies surveyed cares about the reduction in water consumption. |

Furthermore, we highlight the fact that only a small portion of the companies surveyed cares about the reduction in water consumption.La necesidad de utilizar de manera adecuada y sostenible los recursos naturales del medio ambiente debe ser cada vez más presente en la vida cotidiana de la gente, el gobierno y las empresas. Por lo tanto, este estudio tiene como objetivo analizar las iniciativas y prácticas ambientales adoptadas por un grupo de empresas establecidas en el Valle Del Caí, en el estado de Rio Grande do Sul. Para lograr el objetivo, una encuesta fue realizada a través de un cuestionario diseñado desde el informe "Indicadores Ethos de Empresas Responsables y Sostenibles" (Ethos, 2013). Los resultados indican que la mayoría de las empresas encuestadas expresaron preocupación por las cuestiones relacionadas con el medio ambiente, tales como la generación y eliminación de residuos contaminantes, y reducir el consumo de energía. Por otra parte, se destaca el hecho de que sólo una pequeña parte de las empresas encuestadas se preocupan por la reducción del consumo de agua.A necessidade de utilizar de maneira adequada e sustentável os recursos naturais do ambiente deve estar cada vez mais presente no cotidiano das pessoas, do poder público e das empresas. Diante disso, este estudo tem por objetivo analisar as iniciativas e práticas ambientais adotadas por um grupo de empresas estabelecidas no Vale do Caí, no estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Para atingir tal objetivo, foi realizada uma survey por meio de um questionário elaborado a partir do relatório “Indicadores Ethos para negócios sustentáveis e responsáveis” (Ethos, 2013). Os resultados indicam que grande parte das empresas pesquisadas manifesta preocupação com questões voltadas ao meio ambiente, como a geração e a destinação dos resíduos poluentes e a redução no consumo de energia.
