Environmental Technology Mapping: A Study on Green Patents in Brazil

Resumo: Currently the Brazilian patent system works as a driver for economic and sustainable development, acting as a type of inductor for innovation of environmental issues. A fact observed in the relationship between green technologies and the patent system is in the form of the Pilot Programme for Green Patents of the National Industrial Property Institute [INPI]. But do green patents developed in Brazil meet the areas of greatest need? And which Brazilian regions do stand out? Using as research the patentometrics method, this article aims to identify the level of utilization of green technologies, using technological mapping of green patents conceded by the INPI. The analysis of research on green patents made it possible to draw a perspective on technology areas, regions and authors who hold green research in Brazil. It was found that the areas with more deferred green patents are directly related to the investments made by the companies in each sector of interest. The identification by region nade South and Southeast atand out, and it is observed that the higher investment in education and scientific and technological infrastructure, the greater the results of development of green research. It is hoped that the paper will contribute to the expansion and understanding of industrial property in the form of green patents.

Un hecho observado en la relación entre las tecnologías verdes y el sistema de patentes en la forma del Programa Piloto Verde de Patentes del Instituto Nacional de la Propiedad Industrial [INPI], pero ¿será que las patentes verdes en Brasil se aliñan con las áreas de necesidad y cuáles son los sitios que más se destacan? Utilizando como método de la investigación la patentometria, este artículo tiene como objetivo identificar el nivel de utilización de las tecnologías verdes, utilizando mapeo tecnológico de patentes verdes diferidos el INPI. El análisis de la investigación sobre las patentes verdes permitió dibujar una perspectiva sobre las áreas de tecnología, las regiones y los autores que sostienen la investigación verde en Brasil. Se encontró que las áreas con más cantidades de patentes verdes diferidos están directamente relacionados con los aportes realizadas por las empresas de cada sector de interés. Cuanto la identificación por regiones, se destacó sur y sureste, se observa que cuanto más aporte en la educación,  la infraestructura científica y tecnológica, mayores serán los resultados del desarrollo de la investigación verde. Se espera que el documento contribuya para la expansión y la comprensión de la propiedad industrial en forma de patentes verdes.Atualmente o sistema patentário brasileiro funciona como um propulsor para o desenvolvimento econômico e sustentável, atuando como um tipo de indutor para a inovação das questões ambientais. Fato este observado na relação entre as tecnologias verdes e o sistema patentário, na forma do Programa Piloto de Patentes Verdes do Instituto Nacional de Propriedade Industrial [Inpi], mas será que as patentes verdes desenvolvidas satisfazem as áreas de maior necessidade e quais regiões mais se destacam no Brasil? Utilizando como método de pesquisa a patentometria, este artigo tem por objetivo identificar o nível de utilização de tecnologias verdes, por meio do mapeamento tecnológico das patentes verdes deferidas no Inpi. A análise da pesquisa sobre patentes verdes possibilitou traçar uma perspectiva sobre as áreas tecnológicas, as regiões e os titulares que realizam pesquisas verdes no Brasil. Constatou-se que as áreas com maior quantidade de patentes verdes deferidas estão diretamente relacionadas aos investimentos realizados pelas empresas, em cada setor de interesse. Quanto à identificação por região, destacaram-se o Sul e o Sudeste, e observa-se que quanto maior o investimento em educação e infraestrutura científica e tecnológica, maiores os resultados de desenvolvimento de pesquisas verdes. Espera-se que o artigo contribua para a ampliação e a compreensão sobre a propriedade industrial na forma das patentes verdes.
