Resumo: Sustainability in business should be focused on three levels: prosperity, environmental quality and social equity. The principles of sustainability should be implemented in three organizational levels: strategic, tactical and operational. However, at tactical level there is fewer evidence of this practice, being situated at this level the project management. This work developed a critical view of the importance of the implementation of sustainability in project management practice and it was conducted a bibliographic study on Google Scholar database. We realized a qualitative analysis of the constructs sustainability and project management, from a review of articles published between 2005 and 2015. It was found that the studies conducted on project management integrating sustainable principles have a perspective of contributions in the corporate environment some indicators are decision-making by consensus rather than strictly top-down (top-down); systemic analysis and not just linear; performance measurement to the triple bottom line (economic, social and environmental); and management thought in the short, medium and long term. Analyzing the publications in the period studied, it was noted that the implementation of sustainability in corporate projects creates opportunities, satisfaction of stakeholders and increase of at least 2% in productivity. To monitor and / or try to generate desired changes in the organizational environment, the issue of sustainable development must be considered an innovation and, therefore, it is a huge challenge yet.
