Conceptual Model and Proposals on Capacity in R&D Projects Linked to Strategic Alliances: A Theoretical Essay

Resumo: Research and Development (RD) projects based on strategic alliances stimulate external knowledge acquisition, assimilation, transformation and exploitation, potentiating innovations generation. Due to the relevance of this theme, this article presents a conceptual model on Absorptive Capacity (AC) in RD projects established from strategic alliances. For this, a theoretical essay of exploratory nature is carried out through a bibliographic review. As a result, there is an elaboration of research proposals and a presentation of a conceptual model that suggests a prevalence of a cyclical feedback process, where AC results return as antecedents and facilitators. It is also worth noting that in addition to Potential Absorptive Capacity and Realized Absorptive Capacity, Scalable Absorptive Capacity must be considered. Thus contributing to future empirical studies, based on the established research propositions.

Thus contributing to future empirical studies, based on the established research propositions.Os projetos de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento (PD) estabelecidos a partir de alianças estratégicas estimulam a aquisição, assimilação, transformação e exploração de conhecimentos externos, potencializando a geração de inovações. Devido à relevância desta temática, este estudo tem como objetivo apresentar um modelo conceitual sobre capacidade absortiva em projetos de PD geradores de inovação, estabelecidos a partir de alianças estratégicas com parceiros científicos e tecnológicos. Para isto, é realizado um ensaio teórico  Resultando na elaboração de proposições de pesquisa e a apresentação de um modelo conceitual que sugere a prevalência de um processo cíclico de retroalimentação, onde resultados da CA retornam como antecedentes e facilitadores. Destaca-se ainda no modelo desenvolvido a proposição de que além da Capacidade Absortiva Potencial e da Realizada, deve-se considerar a Capacidade Absortiva Escalável.
