Resumo: 1. The large dams along the rivers have major impacts on fish communities, especially on large migratory species that have their migration routes blocked. When this occurs lateral tributaries may be an alternative for these species, since tributaries can enrich the diversity of fish in the main river, providing diverse environmental conditions, access to the spawning habitat, refuge for early stages of life, and promoting heterogeneity ecological, and so niche diversity. 2. Distribution patterns and the influence of the discharge in the ichthyoplankton were verified in tributaries of the Porto Primavera Reservoir, as well as the abundance and the structure of the fish assembly were analyzed and verified how they respond to the environmental variations and local landscape characteristics. For this purpose, we collected data from 2007 to 2010 and 2011 to 2018. 3. We verified that the discharge differed between tributaries and over the years, and this promote variations in the density of eggs and larvae of fish between tributaries and years, as well as the tributaries presented different larval species, including many long-distance migratory. In relation to the fish assemblage, the composition of fish species of the Aguapeí River was different from the other tributaries. The composition of the fish species of the Aguapeí River was different from the other tributaries, as well as this river presented the greatest abundance of fish, including long-distance migratory species, and possibly the different characteristics of the landscape and environmental variables contributed to this. 4. The tributaries of the Porto Primavera Reservoir (Aguapeí, Verde and Pardo) play a relevant role for fish species, since they function not only as spawning areas, but also as nursery and growth habitats, promoting wetlands and marginal lagoons with ideal conditions for species to complete their life cycle. Thus, these tributaries can mitigate the adverse influence of a large regulated river system.

As grandes barragens ao longo dos rios têm ocasionado grandes impactos para as comunidades de peixes, principalmente para grandes espécies migratórias que têm suas rotas de migração bloqueadas. Quando isso ocorre tributários laterais podem ser uma alternativa para estas espécies, tendo em vista que tributários podem enriquecer a diversidade de peixes no rio principal, fornecendo condições ambientais diversas, acesso ao habitat de desova, refúgio para fases iniciais da vida, e promovendo a heterogeneidade ecológica, e assim a diversidade de nicho. 2. Padrões de distribuição e a influência da vazão na distribuição do ictioplâncton foram verificados em tributários do reservatório de Porto Primavera, além disso, analisadas a abundância e a estrutura da assembleia de peixes e como elas respondem às variações ambientais e características de paisagem local. Para tal foram realizadas coletas durante os anos de 2007 a 2010 e de 2011 a 2018. 3. Verificamos que a vazão diferiu entre os tributários e ao longo dos anos, e isto promoveu variações nas densidades de ovos e larvas de peixes entre os tributários e anos, bem como os tributários apresentaram diferentes espécies de larvas, incluindo várias migradoras de longas distâncias. Em relação à assembleia de peixes, espécies com diferentes estratégias reprodutivas ocorreram nos tributários. A composição das espécies de peixes do rio Aguapeí foi diferente dos demais tributários, bem como este rio apresentou as maiores abundâncias de peixes, inclusive de espécies migradoras de longa distância, e possivelmenteas diferentes características da paisagem e das variáveis ambientais contribuíram para isto. 4. Os tributários do Reservatório de Porto Primavera (Aguapeí, Verde e Pardo) apresentam papel relevante para as espécies de peixes, haja vista que funcionam não somente como áreas de desova, mas também como áreas berçários e de crescimento, dispondo de áreas de várzea e lagoas marginais com condições ideais para as espécies completarem seu ciclo de vida.
