The sociological and philosophical assumptions of humanist education propose the improvement of development, well-being and dignity as the objective of every human being. Considering the challenges found today in our society, especially in the area of Education, we seek with this work to reflect on the propositions of Humanist Education, which considers the person in a continuous process of discovery of his own Being, connecting with other people and groups, aiming at self-realization, as well as valuing the full use of their potentialities and capacities, where feelings and experiences play an important role as a growth factor. Thus, the phenomenological research at Mansão do Caminho, aimed at knowing the way in which Humanist Education is put into practice. The research allowed us to know the didacticpedagogical foundations of Mansão do Caminho in Salvador (BA) in the educational service for children and adolescents in a situation of social vulnerability with a focus on pedagogical practices that aim to educate for the appropriation of humanistic values. As a central objective of Mansão do Caminho, the Institution not only performs the function of teaching and assisting socially, but seeks to educate and promote the Human Being in a comprehensive way with results that stand out for the awards received nationally and internationally. So, we asked: In these 66 (sixty-six) years of existence, what has Mansão do Caminho been doing to stand out as an educational institution that offers free quality education? The scope of this project, therefore, was essentially to understand the pedagogical and educational practices applied and developed at Mansão do Caminho, an institution that serves one of the poorest populations in Salvador (BA) and which, according to statistics, has shown excellent rates of basic education development - in 2017 the score was 5.6 for the initial years of elementary school, highlighting the lack of any record of violence, drug and arms trafficking in schools. Nine students and four teachers from the 8th and 9th grade were interviewed, in addition to the director of the Jesus Christ School, the Education coordinator at Mansão do Caminho, a volunteer on the project on moral values and Divaldo Pereira Franco. We conducted a qualitative research such as Case Study, with documentary analysis, field diary records and interviews. Data analysis was carried out in a phenomenological and interdisciplinary perspective between the fields of education, sociology, philosophy and neuroscience referred to by Edgar Morin (2015; 2015; 2017); Sorokin (1966); Buscaglia (1972); Fromm (1991); May (1971); Gibbs (2009); Alves (2004). This research is expected to contribute to the dissemination of pedagogical practices that foster good coexistence in schools and, consequently, improve teaching and learning levels.
