This study aims to analyze the associative movement of teachers of basic education in the public network of the state of Paraná, in the 1960s and 1970s. We used the sources authored by APP-Sindicato, folders referring to teachers' associations, their collective movements produced by Police Station of Political and Social Order (DOPS) and interviews with teachers. We tried to understand how the teachers' organization in their associations was, the profile that characterized their directions and claiming practices. We observed that the intensification of disputes between divergent groups started the construction of the association with a more combative profile, mobilizing the category in several decentralized assemblies and campaigns at the state level, aiming at the approval of the Statute of the Magisterium as a means of solving part of these problems, as well as the salary readjustment and the holding of a public competition to entry the profession.
