The objective was to evaluate the viability of milk production, the substitution of food supplementation for grazing, as well as monitor the impact of the presence of animals on the ground in subsequent grain production. We studied the production and quality of milk, forage yield and straw, and structural features of nutritious oat and ryegrass, physical and chemical characteristics of the soil and soybean yield in 2005 /2006. The experiment was conducted according to the experimental design in randomized blocks with four treatments and three replications. The treatments corresponded to variations in the levels of supplementation, which were calculated according to NRC to produce 28 L cow-1 day-1 : Treatment - 1 pasture + 20 % supplementation in the trough ; Treatment 2 - pasture + 45 % of supplementation in trough ; Treatment 3 - pasture + 65 % supplementation in the trough ; Treatment 4 - pasture + 100 % supplementation in the trough. In each repetition were four animals, totaling 12 animals evaluated per treatment. The residual amount of trash produced by the consortium oat/ryegrass helped yield of soybeans and facilitated the density of soil remain stable. The production and forage characteristics remained constant during the experimental period, the CP, ADF and NDF pasture distinguished themselves as evaluation period. While the milk yield differed only for the first treatment, the production of fat and protein remained uniform during the experimental evaluation
