Quality of life and level of physical activity in teachers in the public school of the city of Ubá - Minas Gerais

Resumo: | BACKGROUND: Nowadays, teachers’ workload demands a lot from their quality of life and physical condition, to carry out their day-to-day tasks in their teaching, which can lead to wear and tear on their health. Because it involves physical and psychological aspects during your workday, which can impact your quality of life.OBJECTIVE: To associate the level of physical activity and the quality of life of public school teachers in the city of Ubá/MG. METHODS: A cross-sectional analytical study was carried out with 56 teachers. Data collection took place in three public schools, with teachers aged between 25 and 55 years and at least 2 years of experience. Two instruments were used, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Version (IPAQ) and the World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire/brief (WHOQOL/brief). RESULTS: The participants comprised women (91.1%) and men (8.9%), with a mean age of 39.57±8.19 years. Of the evaluated teachers, 76.8% were classified as Active (Very Active and Active) and, 23.2% as Inactive (Irregularly Active and Sedentary), and individuals considered active (70.52±8.88) had a better quality of life, compared to the inactive (61.78±10.95). Furthermore, the active group presented a statistically superior quality of life in the psychological and environmental domains.CONCLUSION: Teachers with a higher level of physical activity have a better quality of life than inactive ones. |

Pois, a mesma envolve aspectos físicos e psicológicos durante a realização sua jornada de trabalho, o qual pode impactar na sua qualidade de vida. OBJETIVO: Associar o nível de atividade física e a qualidade de vida dos docentes da rede pública de ensino da cidade de Ubá-MG. MÉTODOS: Foi realizado um estudo análitico de corte transversal, com 56 professores. A coleta de dados ocorreu em 3 escolas da rede pública, com professores de 25 a 55 anos e experiência mínima de 2 anos. Foram utilizados dois instrumentos, o Questionário Internacional de Atividade Física - Versão Curta (IPAQ) e o Questionário World Health Organization Quality of Life/brief (WHOQOL/breve). RESULTADOS: Os participantes foram compostos por mulheres (91,1%) e homens (8,9%), com idade média de 39,57±8,19 anos. Dos professores avaliados, 76,8% foram classificados como Ativos (Muito Ativo e Ativo) e 23,2% como Inativos (Irregularmente Ativo e Sedentário), sendo que indivíduos considerados ativos (70,52±8,88) tiveram uma melhor qualidade de vida, em comparação aos inativos (61,78±10,95).
