APL Timber and Furniture São Bento do Sul and Arapongas: A Comparative Analysis Using the Rasmussen-Hirschman Index

The aim of this paper is to evaluate the contribution of the Rasmussen-Hirschman index, extracted from the input-output matrix municipal, for the analysis of Local Productive Arrangements (LAP) in conjunction with other methods. As an object of study, the municipalities are used Arapongas / PR and São Bento do Sul / SC, notably recognized in the wood and furniture. The subject is justified because of its importance and the lack of consensus methods and concepts. To answer the research problem, describing their traditional methodologies as well as the use of input-output matrix for calculating municipal Rasmussen-Hirschman index. As a result, it became clear the differences between the identification methods that have from one to seven cities analyzed in LPAS. Already, based on the Rasmussen-Hirschman Index, in the specific case of the wood and furniture, this was not characterized as a key sector in both locations. Arapongas values ​​were 1.10 (rear) and 0.88 (front) and São Bento do Sul were 1.07 (back) and 0.85 (front). Analyzing only the indicators back, you can see that the consumer sector is important inputs in the cities, but would not be the most important in getting 4 ° and 6 ° Arapongas and São Bento do Sul respectively.
