Resumo: This article aims to analyse the dynamics of the market and the level of concentration of the exploration and production industry (E & P) of oil in Brazil in the years 2005-2014, to understand the functioning of the market structure and check the main changes during the period. In order to understand the functioning of this market, the dynamics and the concentration process were analysed through secondary data sources. To verify the concentration levels the authors used the concentration indices CR-2, CR-4, CR-8 and the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI). The analysis showed a high market concentration in a single company, which show a monopoly structure. As for the dynamics, there is a strong open market for new entrants in the E & P market from 2007, an increase of the total volume of 144% production in the period analysed, a high domestic consumption of production of this energy source in the country and low dependence on foreign imports sector.

A dinâmica e o processo de concentração foram analisadas por meio de dados de fontes secundárias para compreender o funcionamento deste mercado. A verificação dos níveis de concentração teve como base os índices de concentração CR-2, CR-4, CR-8 e o Índice de Herfindahl-Hirschman (HHI). A análise mostrou uma alta concentração do mercado em uma única empresa, podendo ser classificado em uma estrutura de monopólio.
