Resumo: This work aims to provide an economic reading of the end of the Brazilian military government according to the Austrian theory of economic cycles. The peak of this period, called the economic “miracle”, started a cycle that culminated in the crisis of the 1980s. The constant government interventions in the economic system, in order to promote investments, accelerate growth, stimulate priority sectors and control prices, promoted the inflationary process, and the “lost decade” of the 1980s.
