Male participation in educational groups of contraception: the look of nursing

Resumo: Objectives: know the notion that nurses coordinating Group for Education Contraception (GECS) have on the terms "sexual and reproductive rights" and its relationship to professional practice, examine their beliefs about the presence of men in GECS and identify the strategies used for the incorporation of men in these groups in GECS. Method: A descriptive qualitative approach that, for data collection were used taped interviews with three nurses and one nursing assistant, all of GECS coordinators and participant observation of one of the GECS CAP 3.3. Results: For the respondents to the sexual rights and reproductive rights are synonymous, and that relate to the right to information and guidance. There is an appreciation of the male presence in GECS, showing that there is a greater acceptance of the participation of men in groups, but we do not find specific strategies that stimulate. Conclusion: This study points to the need for more studies addressing this issue, so that its importance is recognized and implemented. Descriptors: nursing care; contraception; sexual and reproductive rights.Objetivos: conhecer a noção que as enfermeiras coordenadoras de Grupos Educativos de Contracepção (GECs) têm sobre os termos “direitos sexuais e reprodutivos” e sua relação com a prática profissional; analisar a opinião suas sobre a presença de homens nos GECs e identificar as estratégias utilizadas para a incorporação dos homens nesses grupos nos GECs. Método: estudo descritivo com abordagem qualitativa que, para coleta de dados foram utilizados entrevistas gravadas com três enfermeiras e uma auxiliar de enfermagem, sendo todas coordenadoras dos GECs e observação participante de um dos GECs da CAP 3.3. Resultados: Para as entrevistadas os direitos sexuais e os reprodutivos são sinônimos, e que se relacionam com o direito à informação, à orientação. Há uma valorização da presença masculina nos GECs, mostrando que está havendo uma maior aceitação à participação dos homens nos grupos, porém não encontrarmos estratégias específicas que a estimulem. Conclusão: Este estudo aponta para a necessidade de mais estudos que abordem este tema, para que a sua importância seja reconhecida e posta em prática.
