Resumo: A brief reflection upon the prefaces of Tutameia, one of the few moments in which Guimarães Rosa talks about his ars poetica. A discussion of some of the main aspects of his aesthetic conception, such as the opposition between “estória” and “história” and the notion of inner coherence in the work of art, the creation and use of neologisms, the relationship between the work and the world of its author, and the problems of aesthetic creation.

No entanto, em seu último livro publicado em vida – Tutameia – o autor, dividindo-o em quatro partes, fez preceder cada uma delas de um prefácio que, juntos, têm sido frquentemente considerados pela crítica como uma espécie de ars poetica, em que apresenta e discute alguns dos aspectos mais relevantes de sua concepção estética: a oposição entre “estória” e “história” e a noção de coerência interna da obra de arte, a criação de neologismos, a relação entre a obra e o mundo do autor, e os problemas da criação estética. Este livro, cujo título significa, de acordo com o próprio Rosa, “nonada, baga, ninha, inânias, ossos-de-borboleta, quiquiriqui, tuta-e-meia, mexinflório, chorumela, nica, quase-nada; mea omnia”, é uma coleção de contos bastante curtos (a maioria deles de três a quatro páginas), que constituem talvez a sua maior realização em termos de depuração do estilo.
