This article aims to recall the contributions of the sociological relational approach to the understanding of the collective actions and associationism in Brazil. Firstly, the main concepts which hold this analysis perspective are taken back, demonstrating how it permits analysing the actions of the social workers as strategic ones and at the same time, conditioned by the positions that they occupy inside a relationship area. In the second part, are described the results of the survey that was done with social organizations which participated of the program “Rede Parceria Social” in Rio Grande do Sul, between 2008 and 2010, which become possible to evidence the eterogeneity of these organizations and their appropriations of the open policies opportunities in the social assistance area from the critical juncture of the years 1990.
