Family agriculture in Short Food Supply Circuits: agroecological commercialization in Chapecó/SC

Family farming is the predominant form of agriculture in the municipality of Chapecó/SC. The Short Circuits of Food Supply (CCAAs) are part of this model of agriculture as a possible alternative of production and consumption for those families that, in the historical process, were on the sidelines of agribusiness chains, especially from agroecological production. In this sense, the objective of this research is to analyze the commercialization dynamics in CCAAs of agroecological production in the municipality of Chapecó. In methodological terms, this study is essentially qualitative, the data collection instrument was carried out through an interview and the results of the research field were carried out through content analysis. The main results demonstrate that the interviewed families who are in agroecological production have approximately 14 years of experience in this model of agriculture. Data from the research field also demonstrate at least three other aspects: i) productive diversity; ii) shortage of manpower; iii) high production demand. With regard to consumers, they reported that they opt for agroecological foods, especially in terms of food quality and family health. There are also related notes regarding the demand for products that are currently not produced in an agroecological way. The final considerations point to the potential in terms of demand, as well as the challenges posed for the expansion and consolidation of agroecological production in the municipality.
