Resumo: This investigation aims to map the characteristics the performance evaluation of the international empirical studies in the public sector in order to identify their evolution stage and research opportunities. This research is qualitative and, through Proknow-C, selected 45 empirical articles referring to Performance Evaluation in the Public Sector. Through analysis, it was identified that in recent years, there is a tendency to identify the organizations PMSs impact ; studies are predominant in the phases of design/conception and implementation of the PMSs Life Cycle; there is a lack of longitudinal studies that address all these phases.

Esta investigación es cualitativa y, a través de Proknow-C, seleccionó 45 artículos empíricos que se refieren a la Evaluación del desempeño en el sector público. A través del análisis, se identificó que en los últimos años, existe una tendencia a identificar el impacto de los SED en las organizaciones; los estudios son predominantes en las fases de diseño/concepción e implementación del ciclo de vida de los SED; faltan estudios longitudinales que aborden todas estas fases.Essa investigação objetiva mapear as características dos estudos empíricos internacionais de Avaliação de Desempenho no setor público a fim de identificar seu estágio de evolução e oportunidades de pesquisa. Esta pesquisa é qualitativa e, por meio do Proknow-C, selecionou 45 artigos empíricos referentes à Avaliação de Desempenho no Setor Público.
