Vital causes of integration problems in merger and acquisitions operations

This research intended to map the vital causes of integration problems experienced over operations of merger and acquisitions (M&A). The development of the situation was based on economist and sociologist Vilfredo Pareto's 80 -20 principle, and its practical application was based on Maranhão and Macieira's orientations. For that, a qualitative descriptive re search was done through interviews and documental analysis, as well as a quantitative one done through questionnaires. The data analysis qualifies, mainly, as qualitative descriptive and comprehensive. It was noted that 81% of the problems experienced in the processed integrations were caused by communication problems between the organization's board and middle managers, between its own internal areas, and between similar areas. In conclusion, the organization must focus its efforts and resources in the elaboration of a system to manage the integration process that promotes the deactivation of the identified communication blockades.
