PARTY-POLITICAL LINKAGE AND FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF GOVERNMENT COMPANIES IN BRAZIL

Resumo: | This paper compares, in political cycles, the party-political linkage of chief executives and the indicators of financial performance in electric power production state companies of the Eletrobrás Group, in Brazil. It is an exploratory, descriptive study and of quantitative-qualitative nature and the date was collected from the SIEST/DEST, TSE databases and from the Administration Reports and Annual Reports of the Profiles from the Federal State Companies. The results suggest that the deficit performance of these state companies do not present statistically significant differences between cycles 1 and 2, however, the second cycle presented higher average of party-political linkage with statistically significant difference, corroborating with the analysis from Public Choice. |

Se trata de un estudio exploratorio, descriptivo y de naturaleza cuanti y cualitativo, los datos han sido recolectados en las bases de la SIEST/DEST, TSE y en los Informes de Administración e Informes Anuales del Perfil de las Empresas Gubernamentales Federales. Los resultados sugieren que los desempeños deficitarios de esas empresas no presentan diferencia estadísticamente significativa entre los ciclos 1 y 2, pero, el segundo ciclo presentó un promedio más elevado de vinculación político-partidaria con diferencia estadísticamente significativa, corroborando con un análisis de la Public Choice.O artigo compara, por ciclos políticos, a vinculação político-partidária de altos dirigentes e os indicadores de desempenho financeiros em estatais geradoras de energia do Grupo Eletrobrás, Brasil.
