Resumo: This study deals with the port-city relationship, especially the identification of the analytical perspectives adopted in the literature to approach the theme. Understanding and harmonizing the interactions between the port and the city should enable them both to fulfill their role: the port, with its transport focus, collaborating with global supply chains; and the city as a space where relationships and social activities take place. This study allowed to identify, from the literature review, the main perspectives adopted in the studies and research carried out on the port-city relationship: economic; infrastructure of access, urbanity, environment, historical, social, political, management, governance and planning.

La comprensión y armonización de las interacciones entre el puerto y la ciudad debe posibilitar que ambos cumplan su papel: el puerto, con la primacía volcada al transporte, colaborando con las cadenas de suministros globales; y la ciudad, en cuanto espacio donde ocurren las relaciones y actividades sociales. Este estudio permitió identificar, a partir de la revisión de la literatura, las principales perspectivas adoptadas en los estudios e investigaciones realizadas en la temática relación puerto-ciudad: económico; infraestructura de acceso, urbanidad, medio ambiente, histórico, social, político, gestión, gobernanza y planificación.Este estudo trata da relação porto-cidade, em especial da identificação das perspectivas de análise adotadas na literatura para abordar o tema.  A compreensão e harmonização das interações entre o porto e a cidade deve possibilitar que ambos cumpram o seu papel: o porto, com a primazia voltada ao transporte, colaborando com as cadeias de suprimentos globais; e a cidade, enquanto espaço onde ocorrem as relações e atividades sociais.
