“Explorations of a Succession”: a Political Cartography of the Pré-estadonovista Period (1935-1936)

Resumo: This article analyses the political schemes involving the main party leaders in Rio Grande do Sul between the years of 1935 and 1936. Through the exchange of letters, it was possible to perceive the political alliances and dissentions at national and state levels, as well as the political strategies of former governor José Antônio Flores da Cunha related to the formation of an opposition front to Vargas' government.

Leyendo su intercambio epistolar, es posible revelar las alianzas y oposiciones en el plano político estatal y nacional, así como las estrategias políticas del gobernador José Antônio Flores da Cunha para la composición de un frente opositor al Gobierno de Vargas.Cet article fait l'analyse des accords poltiques qui ont mis ensemble les principaux leaders d'un mouvement politique au Rio Grande do Sul, entre les années 1935 et 1936. Au moyen d'un échange épistolaire, on a pu se rendre compte des coalitions et dissensions dans le plan politique de l'état et de la nation, de même que les stratégies politiques du gouverneur José Antônio Flores da Cunha concernant la composition d'un front d'opposition au Gouvernement Vargas.O presente artigo analisa os arranjos políticos que envolveram as principais lideranças partidárias no Rio Grande do Sul, entre os anos de 1935 e 1936.
