Resumo: | This text is a contribution to the study of synonymy and paraphrase, from an onomasiologic point of view. If, on the one hand, the idea of characterizing paraphrase as a relation of semantic identity (absolute synonymy) is rejected, on the other, the possibility of the perception of semantic equivalence is recognized. Based on empirical data obtained from the “Atlas Lingüístico-Etnográfico da Região Sul (ALERS)” (Linguistic-Ethnographic Atlas of the South Brazil Region), it is demonstrated that it is not possible to consider synonymy outside the context in which the words are used, that synonymy is gradual and that the choice of one or another paraphrastic structure is never random. |

Si, por un lado, renunciamos a la idea de caracterizar la paráfrasis como una relación de identidad semántica (sinonimia absoluta), por el outro, reconocemos la posibilidad de compresión de la equivalencia semántica. Con base en datos empíricos del Atlas Lingüístico-Etnográfico de la Región Sur do Brasil (ALERS), demostramos que es posible pensar la sinonimia fuera del contexto en que las palabras son empleadas, que la sinonimia es gradual y que la elección de una o de otra estructura parafrásica nunca es al acaso..Dans ce texte, nous procédons à la présentation de quelques apports destinés aux études en synonymie et en paraphrase, à partir d’un point de vue onomasiologique. Si, d’une part, nous n’avons pas voulu caractériser la paraphrase en tant que rapport d’identité sémantique (synonymie absolue), d’autre part nous avons envisagé la possibilité d’appréhension de l’équivalence sémantique. Ayant comme support des données empiriques fournies par l’ “Atlas Lingüístico-Etnográfico da Região Sul (ALERS)” [Atlas Linguistique et Éthnographique de la Région Sud du Brésil], nous avons démontré, premièrement, que ce n’est pas possible de réfléchir sur la synonymie hors du contexte dans lequel les paroles sont employées, et ensuite, nous avons aussi établi que la synonymie est graduelle et que le choix entre deux structures paraphrastiques n’est pas aléatoire.Apresentamos, neste texto, algumas contribuições para o estudo da sinonímia e da paráfrase, a partir de um ponto de vista onomasiológico. Se, de um lado, renunciamos à idéia de caracterizar a paráfrase como relação de identidade semântica (sinonímia absoluta), por outro lado, reconhecemos a possibilidade de apreensão da equivalência semântica.
