Resumo: This essay starts from the concern about the emergence of the term larp in media coverage of political phenomena, present above all in alternative journalism vehicles. The term – which comes from the acronym for live action role-play – refers to a playful practice, present in various parts of the world for at least 50 years. However, its arrival in the political context does not carry an explicit meaning, so the objective is to survey the meanings used, in order to systematize and discuss them. As a finding, there is a pejorative use of the term, so the essay ends by proposing other meanings that are linked to the term larp and that could be appropriated by political discussion.

El término, que proviene del acrónimo de live action role-play, se refiere a una práctica lúdica que se ha producido en varios lugares del mundo durante al menos 50 años. Sin embargo, su inserción en el contexto político no le atribuyó un significado explícito, por lo que el objetivo de este estudio es identificar los significados utilizados, con el objetivo de sistematizarlos y discutirlos. Como hallazgo, existe un uso peyorativo del término, por lo que el ensayo finaliza proponiendo otras acepciones que se vinculan al término larp y que podrían ser apropiadas por la discusión política.O presente ensaio parte da inquietação acerca da emergência do termo larp em coberturas midiáticas dos fenômenos políticos, presente sobretudo em veículos de jornalismo alternativo. O termo – originário do acrônimo para live action role-play - refere-se a uma prática lúdica, presente em diversas localidades do mundo há pelo menos 50 anos. Contudo, sua chegada no contexto político não carrega um significado, de maneira que o objetivo é pelo levantamento de significados utilizados, com o intuito de sistematiza-los e discuti-los.
