The relationship between orality/writing in formal and public oral genres: the case of the academic conference

Resumo: | The relations of continuity and mutual constituency between oral and written language are central to the understanding of how formal and public oral genres function in educated discursive communities, as well as to the understanding of the phenomena of literacy and the teaching-learning of languages at school. In this article we analyse a formal public oral genre – the academic conference – in terms of the relationship between orality-writing, orality-orality, and writing-writing in the constitution of the conference and its “retextualization” (MARCUSCHI, 2001a) as a transcription. The bases for this analysis are several oral and written texts produced by/around a conference given by Bernard Schneuwly. Finally, we argue that, in formal public oral genres, there is a complex relation of mutual effect and interference between orality and writing, a relation that can be better understood in terms of the “activity systems” which put into circulation and in contact “genre systems” (BAZERMAN, 2005a, 2005b). |

En este artículo, pretendemos hacer un ejercicio de análisis de un género oral formal y público - la conferencia académica - en términos de las relaciones entre oral-escrita, oral-oral y escrita-escrita en la constitución de la conferencia y en su retextualización (MARCUSCHI, 2001a) como transcripción. Como datos se usó los múltiples textos orales y escritos en una conferencia proferida por Bernard Schneuwly. Al fin, se defenderá que la oralidad y escrita mantenien una relación compleja de mutuo efecto e interferencia en los géneros orales formales públicos, que puede ser mejor comprendida en términos de “sistema de actividades” que ponen en circulación y en relación “sistemas de géneros” (BAZERMAN, 2005a, 2005b), entendidos en el sentido bajtiniano del término.La question qui concerne les rapports de continuité et d’une mutuelle constitutivité entre le langage oral et l’écrit constitue la plus grande importance pour la compréhension du fonctionnement des genres oraux formels et publics et des genres de texte écrit dans nos sociétés lettrées, de même que des phénomènes d’alphabétisations et de l’enseigenement-apprentissage des langues dans les écoles. Dans cet article, on entend faire un exercice d’analyse d’un genre oral formel et public – la conférence académique – dans les termes des relations oral-écrit, oral-oral et écrit-écrit dans la constitution de la conférence et dans sa «retextualisation» (MARCUSCHI, 2001a) comme transcription. On adoptera comme données divers textes oraux et écrits mis en jeu dans une conférence présentée par Bernard Schneuwly. À la fin, on fera la défense de la place que l’oralité et l’écrit maintiennent une relation complexe d’un effet mutuel et d’interférence dans les genres oraux formels publics, qui peuvent se faire mieux comprendre dans des termes de « système d’activités » qu’ils mettent en circulation et en rapport des « systèmes de genres » (BAZERMAN, 2005a, 2005b), entendus dans le sens bakhtinien du terme.A questão das relações de continuidade e de mútua constitutividade entre a linguagem oral e a escrita é da maior relevância para a compreensão do funcionamento dos gêneros orais formais e públicos e dos gêneros de texto escrito em nossas sociedades letradas, assim como dos fenômenos dos letramentos e do ensino-aprendizagem de línguas nas escolas. Neste artigo, pretendemos fazer um exercício de análise de um gênero oral formal e público – a conferência acadêmica – em termos das relações entre oral-escrita, oral-oral e escrita-escrita na constituição da conferência e em sua “retextualização” (MARCUSCHI, 2001a) como transcrição. Serão tomados como dados os múltiplos textos orais e escritos em jogo numa conferência proferida por Bernard Schneuwly.
