THE IMAGINARY ABOUT THE OTHER IN THE INSTITUTIONAL ACTS OF THE BRAZILIAN MILITARY STATE

Resumo: In this text, we aim to comprehend the functioning of the discursive representation of the other as a communist on the eve of the Brazilian 1964 coup and its reproduction throughout n the first five years of the military period. Anchored in Pêcheutian Discourse Analysis, we conduct the interpretive process using categories such as imaginary formation, discursive memory, and discursive formation. The corpus of analysis consisted of ten discursive sequences extracted from the seventeen Institutional Acts (AIs) published in these years. We observed in these sequences that the image of the other as a communist constitutes a network of meanings that, nurtured since the beginning of the 20th century, is reinterpreted according to the interests of the hegemonic class and updated in each Institutional Act as state repression intensified.

Fundamentado en el Análisis del Discurso de Pêcheux, el proceso interpretativo se llevó a cabo utilizando categorías como formación imaginaria, memoria discursiva y formación discursiva. El corpus de análisis consistió en diez secuencias discursivas extraídas de los diecisiete Actos Institucionales (AIs) publicados en estos años. Se observó en estas secuencias que la imagen del otro como comunista constituye una red de significados que, alimentada desde principios del siglo XX, se reinterpretó según los intereses de la clase hegemónica y se actualizó en cada Acto Institucional a medida que se intensificaba la represión estatal.Neste texto, busca-se compreender o funcionamento da representação discursiva do outro como comunista às vésperas do golpe de 1964 e sua reprodução nos cinco primeiros anos do período militar. Ancorado na Análise de Discurso pecheutiana, o gesto de interpretação se deu a partir de categorias como formação imaginária, memória discursiva e formação discursiva. O corpus de análise consistiu de dez sequências discursivas retiradas dos dezessete Atos Institucionais (AIs) publicados nesses anos.
