Resumo: The objective of this work is to present an excerpt from the doctoral thesis that sought to understand the meanings of Early Childhood Education, reflecting not only on how we form children, but how these can cause changes in teaching. In this sense, only the narrative of a child will be presented. The theoretical-methodological foundations adopted were based on the Anthropology of Complexity by Edgar Morin, the Anthropology of the Imaginary by Gilbert Durand, the Sociology of Everyday Life by Michel Maffesoli and the Philosophy of Poetic and Creative Imagination by Gaston Bachelard. Studies on childhood and contributions from Narrative Research proposed by Clandinin and Conelly, Passeggi and Chaves, among others, also contributed as a theoretical basis. Through symbolic hermeneutics, the images were identified, evidencing their significant potential in each of the experiences shared throughout the meetings with the research subjects. Telling one's own path is an experience that stirs up memory and gives a new meaning to what was experienced. The tale of Bela, a six-year-old child, presented here, shows the formative potential of the narrative.
