DEINDUSTRIALIZATION IN THE CITY OF FRANCA AS A RESULT OF THE BACKWARD MOVIMENT OF BRAZILIAN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Resumo: The objective of the article was to examine some of the main changes that occurred in the Brazilian economy and that influenced its economic development. Analogously, we examined what also happened to the economy and, consequently, to the economic development of the São Paulo municipality of Franca. The Brazilian economic development can be understood as a process whose trajectory describes an advancement movement, which is marked by the rupture of the agro-export model and the modernization of the economy through industrialization, starting in the 1930s; and a backward movement, which began in the 1990s, which is marked by the reduction in the share of industry in the GDP and the return of agricultural and mineral commodities as the main products on the Brazilian export agenda. The footwear industry in Franca was influenced by both movements, which led to the loss of the industry's share in the composition of the Total Added Value in the municipality's economy, as well as in the percentage of participation in formal active links among the large sectors of the economy. The methodological procedures adopted were based on a bibliographical research added by the use of economic indicators and by the regional analysis method based on the Restructuring Coefficient. The result of the research showed us that, between 1985 and 2020, there was a significant change in the structure of the economy in Franca.

Análogamente, examinamos lo que también sucedió con la economía y, en consecuencia, con el desarrollo económico del municipio paulista de Franca. El desarrollo económico brasileño puede ser entendido como un proceso cuya trayectoria describe un movimiento de avance, que está marcado por la ruptura del modelo agroexportador y la modernización de la economía a través de la industrialización, a partir de la década de 1930; y un retroceso, iniciado en la década de 1990, marcado por la reducción de la participación de la industria en el PIB y el retorno de las materias primas agrícolas y minerales como los principales productos de la agenda exportadora brasileña. La industria del calzado en Franca fue influenciada por ambos movimientos, lo que llevó a la pérdida de participación de la industria en la composición del Valor Agregado Total en la economía del municipio, así como en el porcentaje de participación en vínculos activos formales entre los grandes sectores de la economía. Los procedimientos metodológicos adoptados se basaron en una investigación bibliográfica agregada por el uso de indicadores económicos y por el método de análisis regional basado en el Coeficiente de Reestructuración. El resultado de la investigación nos mostró que, entre 1985 y 2020, hubo un cambio significativo en la estructura de la economía en Franca.O objetivo do artigo foi examinar algumas das principais mudanças que ocorreram na economia brasileira e que influenciaram o seu desenvolvimento econômico. Analogamente, examinamos o que também ocorreu com a economia e, consequentemente, com o desenvolvimento econômico do município paulista de Franca. O desenvolvimento econômico brasileiro pode ser compreendido como um processo cuja trajetória descreve um movimento de avanço, que é marcado pelo rompimento do modelo agroexportador e modernização da economia através da industrialização, com início nos anos de 1930; e um movimento de retrocesso, iniciado nos anos 90, que é marcado pela redução da participação da indústria no PIB e retorno das commodities agrícolas e de minerais como principais produtos na pauta de exportações brasileiras. A indústria calçadista francana sofreu influência de ambos os movimentos, o que ocasionou na perda de participação da indústria na composição do Valor Adicionado Total na economia do município, bem como no percentual de participação nos vínculos ativos formais entre os grandes setores da economia. Os procedimentos metodológicos adotados basearam-se numa pesquisa bibliográfica acrescida pelo emprego de indicadores econômicos e pelo método de análise regional baseado no Coeficiente de Reestruturação.
